Den of Wolves

2nd June - Birmingham -
UKGE

Game themes: Sci-Fi / Survival

Gameplay: Negotiation / Resource-allocation / Teams / Traitors / Combat

The President’s just been blown up, proximity alarms are warning of an approaching Wolf attack fleet, and dangerous criminals are causing riots on one of your ships - it must be Den of Wolves!

The UKGE run of the megagame was chaotic joy, with a peaceful and productive morning descending into an anarchic and factional afternoon.

Ships boarded each other with security teams, the military abducted and interrogated captains, and the press were extra-judicially incarcerated for… reasons. This is all before we get to the smuggling, secret pact amongst some of the ships, or the brain surgery/interrogation technique combo that was implemented by some very curious (and ethically dubious) souls.

This mayhem makes the constant repelling of Wolf ship assaults all the more impressive - and then half the fleet hyper-jumped away with no warning, taking a very surprised admiral with them! A perfect way to end a chaotic game.

Player testimony from this UKGE run of Den of Wolves:

“It was a truly amazing experience. The intensity of the game was incredible. The interaction with all of the other players - both easy and challenging. The diplomacy and negotiation. The resource management. The 'any time' Wolf attacks. Never knowing what was happening or what was going to happen next. Wow! And the camaraderie when I saw other players during the rest of the Expo.”

“I enjoyed the absolute paranoid backstabbing cluster**** it turned into because of misinterpretations, accidents, stupidity, and of course, the Wolves. It was a great time.”

“My my what a wild space ride! I think everyone from the get-go knew this was going to be something special… Felt as if anything could happen as the ending shocked even the game runners - they were clearly putting in a lot of leg work - no one had anything bad to say about the way it was run.”

”The experience of so many people contributing to the same game was awesome, and I'm really looking forward to trying it again with some more experience.”
